Put your oxygen mask on first

Why not show YOURSELF some loving care? Valentine's Day is a great opportunity and Feng Shui can help !

2022 was kind of relentless for me on the Home and Health front. I lost my Mom, and then my 15 your old terrier one month later. I was in the hospital several times, diagnosed with a serious auto-immune disease and started new medications that have awful side affects. It was a challenging year but I just kept going and going, and it finally caught up with me.

Then, I started 2023 with the infamous virus which, led to a scary bad asthma flare, which led to debilitating panic attacks al la my auto immune disorder.

Thankfully I have the best husband that is caring and supportive , it is not like I was going through it alone. And, now it is February 1st and I am finally on the mend but, I feel the need to be very gentle with myself right now. I realize that I need to take care of myself before I can do anything for anyone else. Often this type of stress and neglect of oneself is what triggers genetically predisposed auto-immune disorders. Start with hydration, healthy nutrition, reduce inflammation and eliminate any foods you do not tolerate. Just take care of your body. I am also getting acupuncture which has been amazing.

Feng Shui is like acupuncture for the home! Obviously my personal Feng Shui situation needs some consideration so that things can move forward with the best of intention for the rest of the year.

Feng Shui has direct applications like placement and clutter clearing, or it can use symbolism, such as photos or imagery, as reminders of the energy we are trying to create.

We can also use Feng Shui remedies like color, light, sound, plants or blessings to create the harmony we desire.

I don't know about you, but when I see clutter or damaged items in my home it doesn't feel like the sanctuary I want it to be. And, if I am feeling under the weather on top of it, the clutter is just going to add to the dis-ease. At Divine Ch'i we believe our homes should truly feel like our castles, safe places where we can retreat and find peace. This is especially important when we are not feeling well. It doesn't have to take a lot of time or money either. Clearing clutter and doing home repairs is always a great place to start. From there we remove, re-arrange and add accordingly.

If things are feeling off in your life if you just review the Guas of your home it quickly becomes clear what needs to be adjusted. But, when you are not feeling your best it is not always easy to assess things clearly or have the energy to make the necessary adjustments. Some things should be maintained at all times if possible.

- Use an air purifier and humidifier in your most occupied areas. Keep them clean from dust and any filters fresh and clean. Have these two items on hand at all times.

Mirrors multiply energy so take a close look at where you have them placed in your space. They will literally double and triple what they project. If you have a hard time falling or staying asleep and a mirror is facing your bed, remove it or cover it for a few days and see if you don't sleep more soundly. Any mirror that is reflecting that which you do not wish to have more of should be removed.

Be mindful of the placement of your electronics.

If you can keep them out of the bedroom, or areas where you tend to go for meditation and relaxation that is ideal. I use a tri-field meter to identify items that are emitting electric and magnetic fields in a home or business. EMF's are invisible areas of energy, (radiofrequency radiation) that are associated with the use of electrical power and various forms of natural and man-made lighting. EMFs are typically grouped into one of two categories by their frequency: Ionizing high-level radiation which has the potential for cellular and DNA damage and Non Ionizing which is generally considered harmless to humans.

Household items that I check for you during a health of the home evaluation include but are not limited to;

Location and effects of powerlines, Microwaves, Computers, WIFI devices, Cell phones, Blue tooth devices, Radios, Digital Alarm clocks, Amazon devices, Digital Weather indicators, Televisions, lighting, appliances etc.

For this self care exercise, add some Yin energy to your space with luxe, plush, cozy fabrics, pillows, throws and bedding. This encourages rest and relaxation. A soft, weighted blanket in a beautiful jewel tone is perfect ! And it helps with the anxiety that dis-ease can have you feeling.

Brighten any dark spaces. Bring in different lighting options so you can control the amount of light you need at any given time. You may want bright light overhead when you are getting ready, but adding lamps or dimmer switches gives you the option for low light during more relaxing moments.

Make repairs and clear the closets and the clutter. Metaphorically speaking, ask yourself what that broken chair, the stuff piled up in the corners or crammed in closets is saying about the flow of your health and overall, your life.

If you are working with the Bagua use it to locate the Health or Heart center. Walk your space, locate the area and note what you see. In my home there is an empty open space part of which has a corner outcropping from the granite bar top creating "Sha" energy in the form of a poison arrow. Poison arrows are any straight, sharp angles created by architecture or décor and furnishings and pointed at a person or, another building. They occur inside of our space and also the structures on the exterior that are pointing toward us affect the space too.

The solution I used in my home was to add a beautiful, large hand carved wooden bowl at the corner with a plant inside of it. The soft , rounded leaves of the plant and the element of wood are the remedy to soften this corner and rid the poison arrow. I just took a look and noticed my plant looks sad and has not been growing. I plan to replace it with a full, vibrant healthy plant asap.

A great book that I highly recommend as it goes into much more detail than I can here is
